Day 1. MO DE IRANZU and STA. Mª DE EUNATE: Pacharán and Idiazabal Cheese

09:30 a.m. For those who go by car in the parking lot in front of the Navarra Arena gate see link

Departure to visit the Urrizaga Cheese Factory and taste its DO Idiazabal Cheese. The Urrizaga sheep graze in the Sierra de Urbasa giving live, clean and healthy milk, with which they make a cheese with a traditional flavor. Next, visit Pacharán Azanza. Since its foundation in 1810 Licores Azanza has worked for and for the quality of pacharán, combining tradition and modernity. Originally, it produced the first aniseed, brandies and orujos in the area. Azanza pacharán has always been produced with scratches or sloes from the earth.

Hidden in the green valley of Yerri, in a secluded area between mountains, is the monastery of Santa María de Irantzu, a grandiose Cistercian abbey built between the 12th and 14th centuries. Lunch not included in the town of Abarzuza. And to finish, visit the Church of Santa María de Eunate, one of the most beautiful and suggestive churches on the Camino de Santiago. The unsolved mystery about its origin and its disturbing interior fuel the interest of this temple.
