Peru: gastronomic paradise

Peru rises once again as a world culinary reference.

On November 22, Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants revealed the list of the best restaurants in Latin America in recent times. This edition was named "Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants 2021: Past and Future". In this event, three Peruvian restaurants were recognized in the top 5: "Central" (first place), "Maido" (second place), and "Astrid y Gastón" (fourth place).

The Central restaurant, by chef Virgilio Martínez, prevails in first place, highlighting as its main characteristic the experimentation with unconventional Peruvian products with an authentic flavor.

Second place was awarded to Maido, by chef Mitsuharu Tsumura; highlighting the impeccable mastery in the preparation of Nikkei food, which is the fusion of Peruvian products with Japanese cooking techniques.

Fourth place went to Astrid and Gastón, from the couple of chefs Astrid Gutsche and Gastón Acurio. This restaurant offers a fusion between the vast Peruvian cuisine and the best of international cuisine.
