Day 3. Safari in Sebatana

Breakfast and meeting with our guides who will lead us, in one of the open Land Cruisers, to the outskirts of Christina's Wallow. We will walk a bit to the refuge , hidden next to one of the most popular ponds in the private reserve. The place is ideal to enjoy the ecosystem in a non-intrusive way as it allows us to observe how the animals come to drink from the pond without them being able to see us. Very likely we will be able to photograph giraffes, meerkats, antelopes, wildebeest, etc. Then we will continue the safari through the savannah with the Land Cruisers until lunchtime. Lunch at the lodge and departure again by vehicle to the savannah. The guides will explain to us about the mammals, plants and birds that we will find during the week. We will also learn about the history of the region. Then we will return to the Lodge to visit the museum and the Sebatana winery. Dinner and overnight at Sebatana Lodge.

Day 4. Book Big 5 and Night Safari

Breakfast and optional visit to one of the largest and most diverse private reserves in South Africa with more than 40,000 hectares in an environment rich in fauna and beauty. So today offers us the experience of enjoying the beautiful African jungle and being able to see some of the famous Big 5.
Welgevonden Private Reserve , located in one of the few UNESCO protected areas in the world, is in itself an incredible experience and the landscapes are breathtaking. Here we have the opportunity to find more than 50 different types of mammals, including lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos and buffalo. In addition to the Big 5 we will also have the opportunity to encounter some of the rarest and most unique animals of the jungle, such as Hyena, Cheetah, Wild Dogs and the African Wolf, in addition to 300 different types of birds.
As a private reserve, there are strict restrictions on the number of daily visitors, guaranteeing clients an exclusive and intimate experience with nature and wildlife in perfect balance.
Sebatana is an active part of this unique reserve and is proud to work in such an innovative environment. In addition to the park staff, there are also a large number of volunteers working and doing research. Findings and results are openly shared with various national parks and reserves across the country and beyond.
After the visit return to Sebatana and possibility to participate in a safari through the private reserve or relax and prepare for the optional night safari. At dusk we will leave the lodge with the Land Cruisers equipped with powerful lights. With the darkness, the savannah changes completely and completely different animals appear. Also the safari is totally different: the guide whispers more than talks, you have to sharpen all the senses and suddenly we see pairs of eyes that look at us in the dark. In addition, the animals that we can see are also different from those of the day. With luck we can find leopards, porcupines, aardvarks, lynxes or galagos. Just listening to the noises that break the silence of the night in the savannah is a great experience.
En route we will stop at the "Flinstone Cave" where a cozy bonfire awaits us . The chef will have prepared an excellent dinner for us, with beautiful tables around the fire in the dark of the savannah. After dinner we will continue the night safari back to the lodge. Night in Sebatana.

Day 5. On foot through the savannah

South Africa is a country of great beauty and the priority of every visitor is nature and wildlife. After a hearty breakfast we will begin our hiking tour and along the way our experienced guide will explain the characteristics of the Waterberg Mountains, the impressive fauna south of the equator and the nature that surrounds us. He will also talk about the areas of animal breeding and feeding, it will be exciting to know, for example, the behavior of antelopes and it will be quite an experience to hear about topics totally unknown to us.
After a couple of hours we will return to the Lodge to rest a bit and have a well-deserved lunch.
In the mid-afternoon we will do another safari in the reserve , so we will have another opportunity to observe the animals of Sebatana. Our guides will make sure that during this excursion we can see as many animals as possible.
At night possibility enjoy a cultural immersion by participating in an optional traditional African dinner . We will know how the black population lives since ancient times, we will try the most typical foods of the tribes in the area, we will listen to their stories, traditions and values. And of course we will enjoy their dances and songs by a traditional African dance group, part of a foundation in charge of keeping alive the traditional culture of the tribes of South Africa. Night in Sebatana

Day 6. Pilanesberg National Park

Breakfast and optional excursion to the Pilanesberg National Park , the third largest in South Africa. It is about 3 hours drive from Sebatana on a beautiful drive through the Waterberg Mountains . When we arrive at the park, we will get into some vehicles in which the guides will lead us through the immense extinct crater in which the park is located. Despite the large size of the park, the vehicles are connected by radio, sharing information when one of them spots the rarest animals.

In its fabulous volcanic landscapes lives one of the world's largest populations of the endangered white rhinoceros, in addition to the famous "Big Five": lion, elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros and leopard . And of course numerous antelopes, hippos, cheetahs, giraffes and more than 300 species of birds. Return to Sebatana for dinner. Night in Sebatana.

Day 7. Brunch in the Savannah and walking safari

Departure at dawn on a new safar i, this time to see how the savannah wakes up with all the antelopes moving in open spaces. Not only to eat, but also to flee from the leopards, jackals or hyenas that lie in wait for them. Since the safari is with open Land Cruisers we will have the opportunity to see the best views and take splendid photos. When hunger strikes, the famous "Brunch" awaits us in the middle of Savannah . In the Kudu rock , with wonderful views of the savannah, they will delight us with an excellent meal.
Afterward, return to the lodge to freshen up and rest. The afternoon offers the possibility of taking individual walking tours following the itineraries suggested in the reservation. Dinner and night in Sebatana.

Day 8. Safari Big 5 and Sunset Rock

Breakfast and for those who want even more safari today a second optional excursion is offered to Welgevonden , one of the best private reserves in all of Africa to see the “Big Five”. It is not very far from Sebatana and due to its small size it allows many possibilities to see the Big Five.
In the mid-afternoon departure on safari through Sebatana ending at the “Sunset Rock” (the sunset rock) . It is one of the most magical places in Sebatana. Here we will live one of the most magical traditions of safaris. Enjoy a glass of champagne as we watch the sun set behind the Waterberg Mountains, illuminating the savannah in red and orange colors. Perhaps one of the most beautiful occasions to enjoy the magic of the African landscape. Return to the lodge for dinner and spend our last night in Africa.

Day 9. Johannesburg and Soweto

After the last breakfast, it is time to say goodbye to Sebatana. Back in Johannesburg we will have the opportunity to learn more about the history of the country. We will stop to visit the "Apartheid Museum" , opened in 2001. The museum will give us an insight into the brutal system that ruled the lives of black South Africans between 1948 and 1994.

After the visit to the museum we will continue to learn more about Apartheid by visiting the Soweto neighborhood . This is the most famous of the "townships" in which the black population was confined to live. In Soweto, 4 million people live in just 63 km2. We will visit the Hector Van Pilesen Memorial and have the opportunity to eat in the center of Soweto and walk through its streets and shops.

In the mid-afternoon we will cross Johannesburg again, the most important city in the country and perhaps in Africa, on the way to the airport. Check-in and boarding procedures for the flight to Madrid or Barcelona via Istanbul with scheduled departure at 6:10 p.m. Night on board.
